We celebrated our 75th anniversary in the ballroom of the town hall on May 16, 2024. The Lord Mayor, Gert-Uwe Mende, presented the two GAIWC Presidents (German and International) with the silver plaque of the city of Wiesbaden.
This was also the opportunity to honor several long-standing ladies who have been members of our Club for decades.
The supporting program rounded off the dignified setting of the event:
- Very talented 14-year-old Josef Maiwald, accompanied by his mother on the piano, played a part of the Mendelssohn-Bartholdy's violin concerto and received a well-deserved standing ovation.
- Our own member Lisa Griffith enchanted the audience with her gentle voice in the aria “O mio babbino caro” by Puccini.
- New stand-up comedy artist Corinna Freudig lightened up the atmosphere with her sharp tongue and the recommendation - “if you're feeling down, make a rhyme” (as if it were the easiest thing in the world); she also took the many anglicisms in the German language to task.
We ended our celebration with a lively reception and great conversations!
